Golf Channel Amateur Tour makes stop at Shenendoah, Kaluhyat this weekend
|
July 21
Oneida Nation Homelands - The inaugural Turning Stone
Classic, a major championship on the Golf Channel Amateur
Tour, is set for this weekend at Shenendoah and Kaluhyat
Golf Clubs. Spectators are welcome at no charge.
The Golf Channel Amateur Tour is the largest of its kind in
the country, and is attracting a full field of 180 players from
throughout the U.S., including Hawaii, as well as parts of
Canada.
Golfers in open and senior divisions will compete in five
flights; Palmer, Hogan, Sarazen, Jones and Snead. As a
major championship, the top three finishers in each flight will
automatically qualify for the tour’s National Championship
and the Senior National Championship being held in
September on four courses at PGA West and La Quinta
Resort in California.
The Turning Stone Classic is a 36-hole stroke-play
competition, with each golfer playing both Kaluhyat and
Shenendoah. Tee times on Saturday and Sunday begin at
7:30 a.m., with the final group starting their rounds shortly
after noon. An awards ceremony will be held at the
completion of play on Sunday.
Players will begin arriving prior to the weekend event for
practice rounds on Friday.
