Rachel Halwig had a goal to shoot
under 95 both days at states.
She accomplished that with a
first-round 94 Saturday, then
bettered that with an 88 during
Sunday's final round to finish tied
for 45th at the New York State
Championships at SUNY Delhi.
Section III's Lauren Petty shot an
impressive 2-under 70 to win the
championship by one stroke over
Section VIII's Sam Sessa.
Petty, of Baldwinsville, finished
with a two-day total of 145. Petty,
a senior, also won the Section III
title on May 24 at Foxfire Golf
Course.
